Thomas Gardner

Colonel Thomas Gardner commanded Cambridge militia during the April 19 fighting, including the engagements around Menotomy. He would later be mortally wounded at Bunker Hill. Gardner represented the educated, property-owning class who provided militia leadership—men with enough standing in their communities to command respect and enough stake in the outcome to risk everything.
