Biography

William Barber of Charlestown survived the Menotomy fighting but was seriously wounded. Like many wounded that day, he was carried to a nearby house for treatment. The lack of military medical services meant local physicians and family members provided what care they could. Barber's survival was fortunate; many with similar wounds died of infection in the days following.
