Granite obelisk (221 feet) commemorating the Battle of Bunker Hill on June 17, 1775. The battle was technically fought on Breed's Hill, where the monument stands.

What Happened Here

Though the British won the battle, they suffered devastating casualties—over 1,000 killed or wounded. The colonial defenders proved they could stand against professional soldiers.
