Faneuil Hall

Government Building

Known as "the Cradle of Liberty" for the revolutionary meetings held here. Donated to the town by merchant Peter Faneuil in 1742.

What Happened Here

Samuel Adams, James Otis, and other patriots spoke here against British policies. The hall served both as a meeting house and market. The grasshopper weathervane atop it has been a Boston landmark since 1742.
