Fort George Guided History Tours

Fort George State Park, Wadsworth Cove Road, Castine

Guided walking tours of the earthworks of Fort George, the British fortification whose construction in June 1779 prompted the ill-fated Penobscot Expedition. Tours cover the fort's construction by British forces under General Francis McLean, the American siege and naval engagement, and the site's later history. The well-preserved earthworks remain one of the best surviving Revolutionary War fortification sites in New England.
