Constitution House Site (Resolves Passage Site)

Landmark

The site of the building where the Fourth Provincial Congress of North Carolina met and passed the Halifax Resolves on April 12, 1776. The structure no longer stands, but the site is marked and interpreted within the Historic Halifax complex. A monument commemorates the passage of the Resolves — the first formal governmental action calling on the Continental Congress to declare independence.
