Anniversary of the Battles of Saratoga — Living History Weekend

July 4th Independence Day Celebration at Saratoga National Historical Park

Schuyler House Open House & Colonial Life Program

Schuyler House (General Philip Schuyler Estate), Schuylerville, NY

Seasonal living history programming at the historic Schuyler House, the country estate of Major General Philip Schuyler that was burned by the British during the 1777 campaign and quickly rebuilt. Rangers and costumed interpreters demonstrate 18th-century domestic life, discuss Schuyler's role in the Northern Campaign, and lead tours of the restored house and grounds. Special programs often coincide with the battle anniversary weekends.

Surrender Day Commemoration

Victory Woods — Surrender Site, Schuylerville, NY (Saratoga National Historical Park)

Annual ceremony marking the October 17, 1777 surrender of British General John Burgoyne and his army — the event that convinced France to enter the war as an American ally. Held at Victory Woods, the actual surrender site, the program includes wreath-laying ceremonies, musket and cannon salutes, remarks by park historians, and guided walks through the historic grounds where nearly 6,000 British and Hessian soldiers laid down their arms.
